Research Interests:
When we talk, we gesture. I am interested in studying linguistic characteristics and cognitive functions of gestures in bth adults and children populations. The followings are the general descriptions of the ongoing projects working with my lab members and collaborators.
1) the way young children, who are in the early stage of language acquisition, use gestures to communicate and how they use gestures differently from their caregivers
2) the way English-Chinese bilinguals speak and gesture and how they speak and gesture differently from English and Chinese monolinguals
3) how gesture semantically primes lexical items
4) how emotional stress is reflected in gestues and whether gestures and physiological measures are correlated in stressful condition
Interested in one of those? Feel free to email me to join us!
